Hillsdale Man, 50, Falls From Deck While Watching Eclipse

A man was airlifted to the hospital after falling from a residential deck in Hillsdale while watching Monday's solar eclipse, authorities said.

The 50-year-old victim fell 10 feet from a deck without a railing while watching the Monday afternoon eclipse on Knickerbocker Road off Riverdale Street, Hillsdale Police Chief Sean Smith said.

A medical helicopter landed at the nearby George White Middle School field a short time  later, the chief said.

The victim was then flown to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, Smith said.

The medical chopper landed at the George White Middle School field in Hillsdale and flew the victim to Hackensack University Medical Center.
